Exercise of the profession and application
The coach authorizes himself to carry out his functions in accordance
with his knowledge, experience, and regularly updated training.
He undertakes to use all his skills to help the client resolve his
problems and to inform him if his problems go beyond his fields
of competence.
The coach finally undertakes to inform his client if he considers
that there is no more benefit to be drawn from the coaching relationship
and to encourage him to terminate it if necessary.
Contract
The mission of coaching is specified by a contract containing the
objective and framework of the mission (duration, progress, rates)
as well as the desired degree of confidentiality.
Confidentiality
The coach is bound by professional secrecy. He undertakes not to
reveal any information passed on by his client, except if given
the client’s express authorization or when obliged by law.
Respect of the people and the laws
The accompaniment of the client is done by taking into account
his environment and the context. The coach decides on actions which
are in his client’s interest, but also takes into account
the interest of the system in which his client takes part.
The coach refrains himself from exercising any abuse of influence
and makes every effort to avoid a conflict of interest.
He also refuses to help his client carry out an illegal action.
Finally, the coach never takes a decision on behalf of his client.
The responsibility of the decisions is always left to the client.
Refusal or interruption of mission
The coach can refuse a mission in all honesty.
The coach can interrupt a mission in consultation with the client
or the client's company if he considers the conditions for success
are no longer met.
Supervision
The coach undertakes to appeal to a supervisor when necessary,
i.e. to have a person of reference to whom he can turn if the situation
requires it (when the client’s problems make some of the coach's
personal difficulties resurface or when the coach feels that he
needs to step back from his relationship with his client).
